Fairytale Fun for Ockbrook School’s Christmas Production - 14.12.09

Students at Ockbrook School are making final preparations this week ahead of the annual Christmas production.
Pupils will take the audience to a fairytale world of dragons and knights when they stage Robert Bolt’s well-known comedy play ‘The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew’ on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 16th December at Ockbrook School Hall from 7pm.
Senior school pupils aged 11 – 18 years will make up the 16 strong cast of the comic adventure which tells the story of Sir Oblong Fitz Oblong, a knight on a mission to bring order to the Bolligrew Islands. He tackles a string of adventures on his journey including duels and magic spells as well as confronting a dragon, a wicked baron and a down-trodden peasant - the perfect mix of ingredients for an exciting Christmas production.
Year 12 students, Jessica Holyoake and Hannah Bradley will play Bir Oblong Fitz Oblong, the knight errant and Baron Bolligrew, the evil Baron respectively. Both girls are veteran performers for Ockbrook productions having been stalwarts of the drama club for several years.
Year seven pupil, Lucy Smith will be making her debut performance as the Duke while year nine student, Aimée Reeves has been cast to play one of the cheeky magpies.
David Hannigan, Head of Drama, said: ‘We are delighted to be holding yet another fantastic school production. Everyone involved from the performers to the costume and set designers have worked extremely hard. This is a funny, fast-moving and well-written adventure story that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.”
