Boarding

There has been Boarding at Ockbrook School for many years. Boarding continues to be an important and integral part of the whole school and exists to facilitate pupils who would, by reason of distance or domestic circumstance, otherwise be unable to attend. It provides these pupils along with our day students the opportunity to participate in the full and varied life of the School.

Boarders at Ockbrook enjoy a campus situated in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of the rolling Derbyshire countryside. Upgraded and modernised accommodation provides all boarders with a pleasent environment in which to rest, relax and enjoy social time with fellow boarders.

When there is availability Boarding is also offered as a ‘casual boarding’ facility to all families with girls at the School.

The principles on which boarding is based at Ockbrook School are:

1) Mutual respect for all boarders.

2) The right to be able to work, play and relax free from abuse, intimidation, harassment, teasing or bullying.

3) Equality of opportunities and respect for all boarders, regardless of ethnicity, culture or disability.

4) The right to extend her intellectual growth in an atmosphere of positive encouragement and in conditions that are conducive to work.

5) Despite the often great distance separating boarders from their families, links with parents are seen as an essential and indispensable part of the support and development of boarders in the school.
