Reception

Reception (4 to 5 years)

Entry to Reception is in the September following your child’s fourth birthday. Located in The Mount, children enjoy the spacious, light and airy facilities, as well as the exciting, expansive, interactive outdoor play facilities in the safety of secure School grounds.

Our specialist, qualified and highly experienced Early Years teaching staff enjoy excellent pupil/adult ratios.  This provides all children with focused and personalised attention to ensure quality curriculum delivery and high level of pastoral care through the Six Areas of Learning within the Early Years foundation stage. All children have access to the finest resources and experience visits by significant members of the community, as well as broader opportunities for performances and parental involvement.

Reception holds a special place in The Primary Department at Ockbrook School.  We recognise the importance of providing a caring environment where children are encouraged to explore and where everyone feels safe, secure, confident and valued.  We achieve this by delivering a broad curriculum that uses life experiences to bring to life the social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of each child.

Qualities such as self-motivation, independence and questioning are encouraged and we welcome the involvement of parents in their child’s education.  This prepares your child for a smooth journey from Foundation Stage into Key Stage One and beyond.
