Sport

Sport is for all, regardless of ability. Our Sports Complex provides professional standard facilities for a wide range of indoor sports and gymnastics. Experienced sports teaching and coaching staff develop all-round athletic abilities, fostering healthy competition and emphasising personal achievement and a healthy lifestyle.
We benefit from a team of specialist Physical Education teachers who manage the very successful interface between our Primary and Senior phases of pupils’ physical education.
Netball, hockey, gymnastics, dance, swimming, tennis, athletics, strike and field games and health related fitness are complemented by a wide range of extended curriculum opportunities including badminton, volleyball, trampolining, aerobics, table tennis and basketball. Our extensive Sixth Form Games programme develops these experiences offering exciting off site activities including rock climbing, abseiling, multi gym, swimming, and sailing, cycling and snowboarding.
In Years 7 - 11 each pupil has two hours 20 minutes of physical education lessons per week. This can then be supplemented to by joining many of the lunchtime and afterschool extra-curricular sporting activities.
Each student in the Sixth Form experiences one hour 45 minutes of physical education per week. The Sixth Form programme is designed to offer new activities, develop existing skills, and promote lifelong physical activity. An example of this years enrichment programme is detailed below:
| Autumn Term 1 | Swimming (off site) Invasion games Trampolining |

In the Sixth Form PE is offered as a subject choice at AS and A2 level. The Department follows the OCR specification. PE is a popular subject and year on year results are 100% pass rate.
Competitive and extra-curricular sport within the Sixth Form is encouraged. There are a large number of sports fixtures throughout the year and our Year 12 and 13 students often assist with coaching and umpiring at Year 7 and 8 sports clubs.
