LAMDA
Pupils may study for, and take, public examinations in verse and prose speaking as examined by the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Pupils progress through a series of grades for examinations such as:
• Verse and Prose
• Reading for Performance.
Pupils may start the programme with the introductory examinations from year three and work their way up to Gold Medal standard (Grade eight).
Our results have been excellent with high numbers of our candidates achieving Distinction and Merit awards at all levels. Two pupils have gone on to earn their Certificate in Speech and Drama: Performance Studies which entitles them to the qualification “PCertLAM”.
School Drama Productions
The School puts on two public performances a year: one at Christmas and one in the Summer Term. Auditions are open to all girls in the Senior School and pupils are encouraged to try out for a part or to help with the backstage work of painting sets and making props.
We have in the recent past performed musicals, pantomimes and serious dramas by British, European and American authors. Currently the Drama Club is working on a Christmas show written by two of the Upper Sixth pupils and directed by Miss. Kendal.
